Hardwood Floors Are Not So Nice in the Winter

Our hardwood floors shined like diamonds when we first saw our house back when the real estate agent showed it to us. It was one of the main features that convinced both of us to buy it. We actually wanted a place with hardwood all throughout the house. We were tired of wall to wall carpeting. We have hardwood in every room except the kitchen and bathroom. Real hardwood floors too, not that laminate stuff. Then, when winter came, the first thing I was doing was looking online at sites that have nice rugs for sale.

We needed a place to put our feet when we sat on the couch and first got out of bed. Those floors we have now are cold in the winter. They feel great underfoot in the summer, but on a frigid night in January, they are anything but toasty. The rugs for sale that we bought were a mix of deep pile and some shag ones. Our daughter wanted shag rugs next to her bed on both sides and at the foot of her bed. Our son wanted a big rug to lay on and sit on when he played video games. We got a nice deep pule rug for in front of the couch that you can dig the toes of your bare feet into.

We still enjoy our hardwood floors, especially when it comes to keeping the house clean. It is nice to just run a dust mop and wet mop occasionally to keep things clean. We vacuum the rugs, and shampoo them a couple of times a year. So much better than wall to wall carpeting that never stayed looking nice in our house where we used to live. The combination of rugs and hardwood is that perfect sweet spot for our style of living.
